Hellihole Road
After all the torrential rain yesterday the sun appeared early and disappeared rather too quickly leaving a colder greyer day behind. There was definitely an autumnal feel to the air and when you see coal being delivered to houses, it only means one thing, and it’s not encouraging.
Seven of us gathered at the slip, one of us in a fetching mesh stinger suit -once stung twice shy, I say, to misquote a saying and agreed the experience was colder than usual. There was minimal hanging around.
I met a girl in the library this morning who was leaving as I went in who said she was leaving before she fell asleep. We agreed that it was a hazard if you sat on one of the comfy settees and tried to read. We wondered what was so mesmerising about that to top sitting area. We wondered if they pumped in some special anaesthetising gas. Having said that I am leaving now before I embarrass myself…. to be continued…
On a whim in the afternoon I took my dodgy knee for a walk round the back of the town. I was accompanied by a walking pole and a battalion of midges who were delighted that the wind had dropped to zero. My knee behaved and it was lovely to be on the open road without cars or people- well one car and one person encountered.
The midges and I are now enjoying an ice cream in the garden. I’ve had to pull out at least two of the beasties who had died by drowning and have been forced to lick quickly to avoid more deaths.
