The Feast Day of Saint Gregory the Great.
The Feast Day of Saint Phoebe. 1st Century.
This Tuesday has been amazing.
It was 3rd September 1979 that I moved from my parent's home in Shirley Croydon, to begin my teaching appointment in a high school in Oswaldtwistle, near Accrington. I was full of energy and enthusiasm to teach Art and Design and Humanities. It was a big life change but I met some really kind friendly people along the way. I wanted to follow in my mother's footsteps, she had been a well respected infant school teacher and became Head of The Infant Department before taking retirement to care for my Dad.
I later did a Primary teacher conversion course and spent several years teaching in a Catholic primary school. Such hard work but rewarding too.
Today Paul and me went to Stonehill Garden Centre and we bought a new bird seed feeder with a transparent tray attached to the base, so the birds can sit and eat together. It was not cheap, but well made, so hopefully it will last a long time.
We bought a new Rosemary plant, three different colour Heather'sand a variegated Applemint that smells gorgeous.
I also bought a Sempervarium with several potentially new plants coming from the main plant.
This afternoon I have been busy re potting these treasureable plants. It brings me great joy to see them prospering in the warmth of the sunshine.
The temperature indoors is a pleasant 20.8c. Holly is asleep in her cat bed and Hunter is in his favourite place behind the pink Hydrangea. We call it Hunter's Hydrangea House!!
I met a few Rishtoners to chat with on my walk earlier. Mandy with her grand daughter, was taking photos of the church being demolished. I told her how sad it felt and she said she was taking photos because it is local history. I agreed. The presbytery is in the process of being taking down. Dust everywhere. Hoping no asbestos in it.
The trees are still standing and creating a natural curtain where the church used to stand. The bulldozers were blocking traffic on Station Road so we decided to go a different way.
Have a good day blip friends and thank you for visiting my site today.
