The Abbey Sip, Penzance

The Abbey Slip is a steep granite slipway and flight of steps leading from the oldest part of the harbour up to the oldest street in Penzance. Three extras today: on the Abbey Basin is the (Victorian) Abbey Warehouse and at the top of the slip, Abbey House (built in the 1600s), now luxury holiday accommodation. It is said that there was a 12th century abbey on this site, however, historians have found no records for any religious house here.
