Lunch in the Library
Before I retired I worked in this library building and lunch was often bought in this cafe on the ground floor. The cafe has been through a few closures since then, reopening under new management every time. I hope the current owners make a go of it. The buffet food was excellent and with lots of variety. Soon after we arrived the place filled up with workers on their lunch break. It felt good not to have to race back to work after lunch.
Instead of going back to work I went home. The weather was such that I decided to stay inside and bake. Jan reminded me that she had requested saffron buns a while back (February to be exact) and I still hadn't baked them. The tradition is to eat them in December so I'd tried to hold out for tradition. However, in view of Jan's injured foot I decided what she needed was a saffron bun or two. Eventually there were 32 large fluffy saffron buns, and you can see 30 of them in the extra.
