Made from a penny!

This morning we took our twin grandchildren to the WWT Barnes where they have been many times before. We were the first to the adventure playground and so had uninterrupted time on the little zip wire there for a bit! We went to see the otters feeding as usual but I was disappointed with the person feeding them and giving the info today, his microphone and sound system was poor and he spent over 15 minutes talking before he actually rooted out the otters and started feeding them….not good when there are lots of children waiting.

These discs are made in an old fashioned machine like you used to get in fairgrounds etc. ….you need a pound coin and a penny coin…..luckily I managed to get both in the shop as I guess they have lots of requests to change notes because of the machine. There was a choice of otter, swan, frog or dragonfly. They both wanted an otter…maybe next time something else! Interesting to see different colours ..I realised afterwards that the two pennies we used were of quite different vintages with different ‘ pictures’ on the back, I think one was thinner than the other so the coin on the right looks better.

Back at home we took Libby for a walk and collected various plants and berries to make miniature gardens ready for my allotment competition next weekend.
Quite a tiring day but pleased we can look after them sometimes and they don’t live far away. They were both very good as usual.
