Lathyrus odoratus in pluvia
A day of rain in all its forms: drizzle, light, heavy, torrential. Fortunately I cut these sweet peas last night. I'm surprised at how well they are doing. In Sussex I don't think I ever had sweet peas to cut this late in the season. These are still producing four flowers per stem and, although the stems are shortening, they are still a respectable 30cm long. Another couple of weeks and I think they will be finished. I have already got my seed for next year when I'm planning to have two sweet pea beds - one for old fashioned varieties from the early 1900s and one for modern Spencer varieties.
