No.5 in my Occasional Series on Early Railways

It's ages since I named and tagged a blip with this title, I'm sure I've missed using the tag on a few occasions. Anyway I found this sign board interesting and thought it worth a blip - I know that a few of my blip pals do like railway history (including Riversider and isbijg).

I passed the sign on a bike ride this morning (just a pedal bike, not a motor one before the isbis get excited!). It must be the the first time for at least 2 years since I last rode it, as my creaky knees started complaining about when I went out on the bike. However they're definitely improved following my 5-month course of physiotherapy and my physio recommended cycling as good exercise (along with getting back to some gentle jogging too). In the past I had some favourite routes along local bridleways (which used to be waggonways for coal trucks a long while ago) so I used this one for my ride. I even managed to pedal to the top of the landscaped ex-slag-heap at Weetslade Country Park, although I had to be in bottom gear and was panting a bit when I got to the top - it was great coming down though!
