White Plume Moth

Lots of insects flying about the woodland rides and clearings today. This White Plume, Pterophorus pentadactylus, is really common and unmistakable. This is a blessing really as I've recently been looking at Colin Hart's book on British Plume Moths and hoping I don't find too many where I've got to dissect the genitalia to make an identification! Near to where I saw this moth, in a large woodland clearing, I found Dark Green and Silver-washed Fritillaries flying together - almost unheard of and a siugn of the wonderful season they are having.
