Rishton Railway Station and Rishton Arms.

The 22nd Sunday in the Christian Calendar.

The Feast Day of Saint Giles of Provence in the South of France. He was known for his humility and sanctity. Patron of many causes including forests, horses, hermits, beggars, Edinburgh, a variety of illnesses including cancer and epilepsy.

Today is Ginger Cat Appreciation Day. I have composed a collage about this, under my other blip account Grace301155.

Today is close and cloudy. The humidity is 88%. It is 16c outdoors and 19c indoors. I did my morning tasks, including feeding the cats and garden birds. I watered a few plants, as potted plants dry quickly in this close weather.

I like the month of September because it has many family birthdays and an anniversary of my Aunt and Uncle in Surrey. Maria will be 30 on 19th September.

So after that, I went for a walk to the canal. No sign of swans, ducks, geese, narrowboats or Tabby cat.

I walked from there to the station, to see how the platform planters were looking. A small group of hard working friends tend to about seven raised beds on the two station platforms. They looked beautiful and colourful with bedding begonias. There were also a few art installations, paintings on the theme of the Victorian Mills.
I have included a couple of photos of the Rishton Arms, a well loved pub beside the station, where they serve decent delicious food, watch football on a big screen and do charitable fund raising for local causes.
