The Hogweed Bonking Beetle

The words I didn't think I'd ever say ..... "Steve ! Have you seen my tripod there are two beetles having *** out here" In fact the beetles were very engrossed and I had time to come in , find the tripod, set it up and fiddle with exposures etc I had the camera on a 2 second shutter delay to minimise blurring and camera shake so when this intruder came to try and break up the party I had no idea if I would capture the action.
Although he is blurry you get an idea of the speed with which he flew into our love birds ( love beetles) . But faint heart never won fair coleoptera . The two hung on fast and the intruder gave up and buzzed off.
I got the shock of my life when I tried to identify the beetle, it is called the HOGWEED BONKING BEETLE !!!
