Racing
Another beautiful sunny day, and a bit warmer, so we decided to go out to North Berwick for a wander. We parked by the golf course and walked along the beach, and were surprised to see all the buzz and paraphernalia of another rowing race. It was just like we saw at Ullapool (was that really only about a month ago?!) although the races themselves felt a bit further off shore so it wasn’t as easy to see who was winning each race. Lots of clubs here from all around Scotland and lots of gazebos and picnics on the go!
We had some coffee at Steampunk, then wandered around the town popping into various shops and getting a couple of cards and then some 2nd hand books in the charity shops but not much else. We wandered around the harbour, checking out the lobster shack with its huge queue, before going into the sailing club cafe where we had some tasty quiche and salad and then a humongous scone each.
Back along the beach and we sat on the sand for a while enjoying the blue sky, warm sun and people splashing in the shallows whilst both the rowing and sailing races went on further out to sea. Perfect day for it! Looking at the coastal rowing website the season for these races is quite long…although both days we've seen them have been gorgeous I bet they race in some really bad weather sometimes!
We came home, listening to book group book for Monday so S can catch up with it, then both felt very tired so had a sit/lie down for a while. After popping out for one last thing for V’s birthday tomorrow and another lie down we made a snacky supper and watched some more Emily in Paris…
Lovely day!
