Kinetic Art

A piece by Ulrich Westerfrölke in the Boppard Museum.

It has clockwork mechanisms which slowly move the arms connected to the shapes. Sadly it wasn’t working during our visit. It might be that the movements are so small or slow that it’s not possible to see them when walking through the gallery.

It’s one of the issues with mechanical or electronic elements in sculptures and installations. They can easily wear out or be difficult to maintain. In a few years there will be a generation who will never see these pieces work .
