A glorious day…

for a lovely walk along the river and through the woods. There was Scabious growing everywhere and Speckled Wood and Peacock butterflies in the hot sun. Best of all was the bonnie Comma that was feasting on the Scabious. In the centre of the river the Dipper was fishing and Crossbills flew overhead. In the old walled garden, Frank Bruce’s sculptures have reverted to nature. He always said that was what would happen. There were plenty of apples on his trees and I picked some larger ones. Good to be outside all day! The temperature at 0900 had been 5° . By midday it was 20° warmer!
