Derelict duck

I noticed this duck planter in a front garden some weeks ago but it was in an awkward position to photograph. Today I decided I'd pick it up and put it on the fence for a better pose. I knew I'd be taking a risk. Out they came, mum and young daughter and they were so nice, telling me to go for it. They didn't even mind that I made the duck's head fall off.

As garden ornaments go I think this one is unusual. It's not the regular stamped out thing from Bunnings, especially true of their garden gnomes. The mum said everything she's ever tried to plant in it dies because the water runs right through the wide mesh. Adds to its appeal.
