Jachtslot Mookerheide

Today my Nijmegen brother and I went for a walk to see the purple heather. We parked our car near this building. Built early in the 20th century for a beyond wealthy man. He was too busy to live there so he sold it on to another wealthy man. Built in Jugendstil style. After the war it became a convent. Until it was sold to an organisation that preserves nature.

Recently it has been renovated. Which brought back the original pink walls. And the yellow elements. Inside is a restaurant and venue for parties and weddings.

A great start of a very nice walk. We did get to see the purple heather as well.
