Bury Ditches

A glorious afternoon. I took the spaniel for a walk around one of my favourite places in Shropshire, the Bury Ditches Iron Age Hillfort. If you only visit one hillfort, this is the one to see. Dating from 500 BC it is exceptionally well preserved with three rings of massive ramparts. It feels quite remote and the views are astounding with nothing but hills in all directions - the Cambrian mountains to the west, the Clee Hills to the east and the Long Mynd to the north. My blip is taken in the ditch between the innermost (and smallest) ramparts looking northeast towards Caer Caradoc (Church Stretton) in the far distance.
