Destroyed Room a.k.a The Death of the Sardanapalus
This is my take of Jeff Wall's first famous picture Destroyed Room , which in return was his take on Delacroix's painting The Death of the Sardanapalus . Delacroix's painting was history painting the highest art genre at the time, while Wall's interpretation was clearly within boundaries of history of painting, mine makes full circle. It is not staged , and represents real room and event, luckily without any tragic and dangerous connotations. Only today same room looks very different.
