Padstow

Having been in the area for approaching a week we finally went to Padstow today. We hired bikes in Bodmin and cycled along the Camel Trail to get there. I last went to Padstow c. 20 years ago, it is still a lovely little coastal town. However... It is overrun with tourists. Such a shame. I imagine it will only get worse next week when the school holidays are in full swing. The crowds of people were all too much for me so we headed up one of the hills and ended up in an oasis of calm at the Crosse Hotel where we indulged ourselves in a cream tea. This is the view from the garden. We received a warm welcome from the owner and two lovely large scones each. Very nice. Then we went back down the hill, waded through the tourists and made our escape on our bikes back to the Camel Trail.

On our way back there was a large sign alerting us to the presence of a vineyard. Well of course it would have been rude not to investigate... We had lovely views accompanied by a small tipple each before continuing on our way back to Bodmin to return the bikes.
