Getting to the beach early has been vital for the past two months.

People put their furled brollies and deckchairs in all the prime spots along the shoreline by 9 o'clock and then do not return to them till the afternoon, such is the selfishness of the tourist.

This chap needn't have worried. It is the last week of August and already people are leaving to return home. There is a feeling of greater peace and quietness about the place.
