My last day

A circular walk in the sunshine, through Rodmell and Southease. Beautiful paths, some by the river Ouse on the Egret Way (of which we saw several - and a few herons). Of course we were near Monks House where Virginia Woolf lived, and the river where she drowned herself. We’re in rich farmland, where cereal crops were ripe for harvest, plus lots of cows, horses and sheep. And there are hills surrounding us - the South Downs, Mount Caburn, I don’t know all the names. We popped into the churches in both villages. The stained glass window of the man sowing is lovely I think. Notice that there are 3 naughty pigeons getting ready to eat the seed. The wild flower patch outside the church at Rodmell, was sown by the children at the primary school next door, and although some had faded I thought it was lovely and colourful still. The other pic is of my friend J stepping inside the church at Southease. The tower was ‘added’ in 1150 so I guess that means other bits are older. The church at Rodmell also dates from the 12th century.
Later that afternoon, I did some weeding and tidying in J’s very big garden. She was delighted, and it did look better. I think the weeds get on top of her a bit. And it was a little thank you for a lovely visit
