Ripening
Woke to find Kyro had a graze on his foot. He'd woken me up several times in the night licking but wanting to regain sleep I didn't check.
Yesterday playing in the living room his right front paw slipped below a low bookcase. He yelped and I checked his foot but didn't see broken skin. I may have mentioned before greyhounds have paper thin skin.
So this morning I put his muzzle on in case he had a strop while I sorted his paw. I bathed the red, raw wound with warm salty water to ward off infection. Then I applied a spray which is a liquid band-aid which dries over the wound and protects it.
He was very good and patient. I've had to keep his muzzle on today to prevent him licking. I don't like to leave it on him overnight but will do to let the wound heal over a full 24 hours.
This is familiar territory for me as previous greyhounds have sustained similar injuries. I have a small cube shaped bag which I've made into a hound first aid kit.
The pears are ripening but will we get to them before the birds.
Pleasant evening everyone.
