In the footsteps of Vikings

During the 9th century the Vikings built the settlement known as Haitabu. It was to become one of the most important trading hubs in northern Europe for around two hundred years.
Haitabu is nowa UNESCO world heritage site since archaeological excavations across more than 32,000 square metres have unearthed amazing insight into the lives of the vikings and others tribes and peoples of the time,

After three hours of exploring the museum we took a walk around Schleswig. We had hoped to visit the stunning gardens of Schloss Gottorf, but it was closed. The guidebook forgot to mention that it is shut on Mondays!
So we went to look around the beautiful Dom and the fishing village of Holm. In between there was time for the obligatory Kaffee & Kuchen:)
