Happenstance ...

If … the far corner of my back garden wasn’t overgrown and uncultivated 

If … there was no hole underneath the fence board between us and next door

If … I hadn’t left a pile of branches by the fence to rot down in the hope of attracting wrens

If … my neighbour hadn’t told me she’d seen a hedgehog heading towards our garden

If … I hadn’t decided on the basis of her information to buy a hedgehog feeding station and a wildlife camera

Then … 

I would never have known the joy of coming downstairs every morning and watching the latest recording of our little hedgehog snuffling about along the path by the rose garden, and then heading straight into his feeding station for his nightly rations!
