"So Special"...

...A knock at the door this morning, and our dear friend Barbara was there with the local papers and a very Special Gift of lovely jams & chutneys for us..she is very Special herself.. I've already opened the beautifully wrapped gift, but I thought I'd show you as well..

...A few weeks ago she lost her lovely husband of many years..Old Harry fell out of the apple tree a couple of years ago and never was the same again, poor dear..with a broken arm and then he fell of bed in hospital as well..

...He was a real man of the land having worked hard on Stations, owned many trucks, and did so much for this community...

...We go back a long way really, and it's strange how Life entwines the people we know and knew isn't it..Barbara's first husband's sister I used to work with in an office here before our daughter was born - and Barbara's Harry - well - we bought his family home, the one he was brought up in - many years ago in 1970 and we brought our children up in it as well before leaving this district in 1981..

...It wasn't until we returned to the place we love most, that we met both of them, in the next street - and we were able to show them the beautiful card the office where I worked had given me with Barbara's first (dec'd)husband's sister's signature in it..she too has now passed on - and as well, with Harry - we could show him the photographs in our albums of all the changes we had made to his family home of 1936, with landscaping and renovations, all done by John and Estelle, the whole lot...

...Harry was so excited that we had to then meet his sisters and brother too, and Barbara was so excited we had to meet her daughters, the nieces of the lady I worked with before our daughter was born and one of whom lives just a street or two - away from our own daughter - who lives in Queensland, that's a coincidence too..

...And so Life entwines itself around us - we all know someone who know someone who know someone else, and in Barbara and the late Harry's case - it took over 30 years for us all to meet .. and they will always hold a Special place in our hearts, forever more...
