Styal
Another music festival, this time in Manchester. Gary came with me, dropped Abby and Jess at the festival park at 14:30 then headed off to find somewhere to walk and eat. Came across Styal - a national trust area of beautiful woodland and river around a former mill. Walk incorporated open fields, woods, meandering river with deep ravine and numerous bridges, the mill (which was huge!) and Styal village with the former mill worker cottages The village fascinated us and we got talking to someone who lives there. The houses are rented (NT owned), has primary school and chapel, small gardens overflowing with flowers, allotments etc all set in this stunning countryside. The juxtaposition of modern working life in what could easily be an historic village exhibit was lovely. Blipped the wheelie bins outside the tiny back to back gardens. Few extras of the houses and mill. Also had to include berries - distinct autumnal feel to ur walk - disorientating as we go on a summer holiday next weekend :)
Got home 1:45 so tired today!!
