Vintage at the Tower
After church, my friend Alison and I went straight to Layer Marney Tower for a vintage day out. There was plenty to see and do, lots of vintage stalls inside the Tudor barn and Long Gallery and outside in the beautiful gardens, vintage cars, live dancing, and music from some really talented singers (see Extras) who did some great renditions of 40’s, 50’s and early 60’s numbers. There were vintage games, a Punch & Judy show and animals to see for the children. I also showed Alison around the tower itself and the church, which I’ve visited before on a guided tour. It was perfect weather, sunny but not swelteringly hot, and we enjoyed sitting in the courtyard where food and drinks were available with a delicious freshly made pizza and a glass of Pimms and lemonade. Later on we had a hand-made ice cream cone too. Favourite personality of the day for me was the handsome chap in the main photo, who actually posed for his picture.
I wish I’d had my proper camera to capture the fun with, but unfortunately it’s in one of the boxes and I know not which one, so these from my mobile phone are the best I could do. A lovely day which we both thoroughly enjoyed.
