Incredibish

I'll go a long way for good fish and chips...

So, Morrigan and I set out for a ride today, to brush some of the dust off both of us. I was planning to head into Wales, but the winds and rains were set to be fierce, and Janet said 'why not go to Porlock'...

Half the way is a motorway slog, but after that it's the A39, which apart from being tidied up for Hinkley C is rather a fun winding country lane. Until you get to the Porlock and Countisbury Hills, which are simply fun and winding... and almost vertical!

Both Porlock Hill and Countisbury Hill are signed as 25% inclines, although I think Porlock is actually 1:4 and Countisbury a little less. Only ten miles along the top road between them, but such a laugh!

At then, at Lynmouth, fantastic fish and chips from The Esplanade - if you have the patience to stand in the immense queue... which I did. A quick shot at the Glen Lyn Gorge Memorial Fountain marking the tragic flooding of 1952 as well as the overland launch of the 1899 lifeboat, and home. 190 miles in all.
