Fun(d) raising day
What a wonderful day! Rufus and I were at Sahara restaurant on the sea front by 11.30 so that I could participate in setting everything up for the day's fundraising events for CoDA*. All the usual peeps were there and together we set up the table top sale and everything needed for both the fashion show and the auction. The fashion show consists of some of the ladies modeling the new-still-with-price-tags and nearly new donated clothes - all available to buy. I modelled once last year - never again! but I'm happy to help in other ways. After the fashion show and sale Mark took over as the auctioneer to sell off various household items. We had a good crowd at the restaurant, many folks having sth to eat and drink as well, so a good afternoon was had by all - including Rufus who spent his time working the crowd, seeking those who wanted to pay him some attention in his role as advocate and advertisement for CoDA.
By the end of the event, we had raised over 30k Turkish Lira, or in real money, just under £700 which will be used for food and veterinary bills for the ownerless animals of Akbuk and Didim, both on the street and in the council shelter. A great fundraising event - feeling great.
Of course what made the day even greater was the arrival of Bev and Nigel during the afternoon's auction. So good to see them after almost a year. They sat with me, we had a drink, their donated items were auctioned off and Bev bought a couple of things too! When the fundraiser was over and I"d done my share of packing up, we three + Rufus = 4 went back to the villa for a beer on the patio and a little pool time to cool off on this very warm day.
Thus recovered, we four strolled to Pasa for dinner and then a couple of hours later were back at the villa with a beer on the patio to round off the evening.
What a day. Rufus is exhausted. He's not the only one.
