The Lozarithm Lens

Pinboard #20 (Sunday 25th August 2024)

A lot of my home time this week has been spent in the loft rooting through piles and piles of unsorted newspaper and magazine cuttings going back to the nineties, some even older, and then sorting and archiving the few I elected not to throw away into folders and cardboard crates. As well as articles there were many striking full-page images, of which the first selected batch are shared here.

From left to right we have a poster from the Beatles' days in Hamburg, Björk, a record stall promoting Jerry Lee Lewis, a Warholian take on Deborah Harry, a very early Zigzag magazine cover featuring the singer Marsha Hunt and, lastly, the original Supremes.

Interesting that Rory Storm and the Hurricanes were above the Beatles in the billing as their drummer was Ringo Starr.

Lozarithm's Lozarhythm Of The Day:
Marsha Hunt - Keep The Customer Satisfied (1970)
I think this Simon and Garfunkel cover was the single following Walk On Gilded Splinters and Desdemona. I remember seeing her at Mothers Club around that time and enjoyed making eye contact. She was backed by the band White Trash, as I recall (some irony there).
