Life in a Northern Town

Wood pigeon woes

Last week I came back from a walk to find a squished wood pigeon in the road outside the house - I was sad at the loss of one of my resident pair, especially when I read they mate for life. I’ve been watching the remaining bird for a few days with much anthropomorphism, and decided that this morning he/she looked especially forlorn.

20 minutes later there were two of them fluttering around in the garden, so either he/she hooked up again pretty quickly or the roadkill was some other unfortunate avian.

It’s all happening in Huddersfield.
