A beach

I've lived up here for over twenty years and never been to Heysham. Between the power station and a friend who teaches at the local school, I'd got an impression of the place that made me think I wouldn't much like it.

But today Hannah was taking the ferry to visit her boyfriend, so we didn't have much choice. I had a friend staying, so we decided that we'd pick Hannah up early and stop for a picnic on the way to the ferry port.

The plan was to take advantage of the lovely weather and go to Morecambe, which, tired old thing that it is, always looks a bit better in the sun. But one way or another, we ended up in Lancaster following the signs for the ferry. Making the best of the situation I suggested we go and suss out where the ferry was and then find a picnic spot.

Heysham turned out to be rather nice, at least the bit near the ferry and we found this beach just to the north. As I said, I've lived here a long time and I've avoided Heysham, which is a real shame because this little beach is lovely (and so was our picnic).
