Number147

Thursday

Despite falling asleep as soon as my head hit the pillow last night, I was up by 6.

Florence and I took Hetty out this morning. We were fortunate with the weather and walked between the showers.

Our late neighbour, Roger's son came round for coffee and told us that the house is ready to sell.

He also told us of his first experiences of Belfast. His late wife lived off the Falls Road when they met and he told us how he always checked beneath his car before getting in. He witnessed a bomb going off and heard gunshots on 2 occasions.

I remember the Falls Road and the troubles during my teenage years and early adulthood. Always on the news.

All different now!

I took Florence to my friend, Rachael, for a haircut. Rachael cut quite a lot off the length and layered it thus hiding the bald patches and the swathe that's now about half a inch long.

It worked magic, which made Florence very emotional. So I became tearful too and then Rachael joined in!
