Another Sunny Day ...

another sign of seasons changing.

Acis autumnalis, flowering both out in the garden where the rain has got to it and bone dry in a pot in the cold frame.  It can flower as early as late July in UK gardens so the name is a bit misleading but it does herald the coming of many other bulbs which flower soon after their summer rest.   As this one, they are often plants of Mediterranean climates.  It grows to about 6 inches tall, the flowers very small, about the size of my little fingernail.   A delicate little beauty.

A short shift in the railway shop this afternoon left plenty of time beforehand for working on repotting the bulbs.   I have been working through the autumn flowering crocuses this week, lots of flowers to look forward to over the coming months.  Before this I had picked Bella up from Jamie's as he's away in Brighton from today until Sunday and then taken both dogs for a run in the ball field where the swallows were swooping low catching insects in the morning sun.

Busy in the shop this afternoon.  Another cafe shift tomorrow in what is a busy week.
