Pinky And The Brain

Following our A13 sing song, just after midnight, daughter#2's birthday celebrations continued today, starting with a very fine breakfast/brunch at The Ivy at Canary Wharf.

SIL#1 was able to be there - luckily he works at Canary Wharf so was able to go on to his office afterwards. The rest of us, including SIL#2 of course, and the grandsons, set off for the V&A aiming to see the Taylor Swift Songbook Trail. Did I mention that daughter#2 is a Swiftie?

When we got there we saw huge queues though and we were advised it would take about an hour to get in. The boys were getting a bit restless so we decided to take them to the Science Museum instead. SIL#2 stayed in the queue with daughter#2 and it didn't take that long to get in, though I think it was slow going around the trail.

The boys enjoyed the museum. I took Rory to have a look at the mathematics section, Joe preferred the shop. I got my blip in the café. I liked the orange caps of course. I didn't know but Pinky And The Brain are genetically enhanced laboratory mice!

After a sandwich tea and the obligatory caterpillar birthday cake (Connie apparently) it was time for some of us to venture into The West End. Mrsfb, SIL#2 and the daughters got Hamilton, Rory and I saw The 39 Steps (extra). It was very good, very funny, based on the Hitchcock film rather than the book, so I knew what scenes were coming up. I was under instruction not to let Rory have both Maltesers and ice cream, but I did. We finished early so made our way to Victoria where we all met up again after the shows. We travelled together a short distance on the Tube, but said our goodbyes to daughter#1 and Rory when we had to change to the DLR at Monument/Bank.

It was another late night journey back to the hotel, not helped by the DLR terminating before our stop because of a problem on the line. We got an Uber though and this time got back just before midnight.

Home tomorrow but we will have breakfast with daughter#2 and her husband before we leave and they set off for Heathrow.
