I did not fancy staying in all day so I donned my mask and went to the market. That was quite enough and so I spent the afternoon watching an Alain Delon film, 'Plein Soleil.'. I doubt if this wall advertisement in the street dates to the French revolution but it has certainly been there a long time. Lubin was apprenticed to Queen Marie-Antoinette’s appointed supplier. Despite being under house arrest at the Tuileries with her family from the autumn of 1789, at the start of the French Revolution, the Queen continued to receive parcels from her loyal perfumer, brought by his young apprentice. Each day, she would freshen up, using the sophisticated preparations created from a base of essences of bergamot and orange. The Lubin perfumes are still available today.
