Again and Again

I'd volunteered at junior parkrun so that I could catch up with Elaine before her holiday and so that I could collect the parkrun 'kit', from its prearranged drop off point, ahead of my RD slot this week.
What I hadn't been told was that the tokens had been sent home for sorting with another volunteer and were not in the shed. This arrangment has potential to add to my Saturday anxiety as I like to have sorted them and to have them with me rather than worry that they are in a muddle or missing. It will also delay an order of a spare set which was on my Sunday to do list. It was, I am sure, done with good intention but I do wish people would stick to the agreed plan. It reminded me of an incident I observed at work earlier in the week; a colleague, with a 30 minute drive to an appointment was waiting on another to arrive with equipment they had agreed to lend her and didnt arrive until a good 20 minutes after she had left, cutting it very fine, for her inspection. Frustrating. Elaine had a PT session booked at 10 so we met before the junior event. It was lovely to enjoy the early quiet of the park. I was scanning tokens with a lovely lady visiting from lowestoft. Enjoyable.

Next I stopped at the farmshop for kebabs for the bbq. I had to wait a little while for it to open but it did mean that the majority of cyclists I came upon were gone before I reached the section of road would have been impossible.

Arriving at HQ, I found my Pa picking runner beans. There were lots, including many that were too ripe for slicing and steaming. I took them home and spent longer than anticipated removing the beans from the pods. I made half into a hummus which was really tasty. I also picked lettuce, cucumbers, courgettes and tomatoes. Lovely.

Pa enjoyed the scone and cake that Emma sent home with me for him too.

A river swim was also on the cards for today. I'd arranged to meet A&T at the river at 12 as she was painting and not sure she'd make it. In the end she didn't but that was not a bad thing as the car park was full and the river busy. I met and swam with 2 ladies that I'd not met before. One is going to gift me some sweet pea seeds and one was gifted a marrow from another swimmer. Such a friendly group. There were lots of jelly fish.

Apart from dealing with the veg haul.and cooking the rest of the day was lazy time.
