Day on the river

We had bait and decided to try our luck fishing early this morning before it rained. We stopped in the mouth of the creek and were greeted by some little shore birds. I believe they were sandpipers. No fish there so we moved on...out in the river. It was a bit choppy but we found a few fish here and there. I took a couple nice shots but settled on this one. We had a relaxing time on the water and by days end we had put 9 1/2c crab cakes and 2 meals worth of fish in the freezer. We are slowly getting closer to our quota needed for the year ahead. Gathering our own food has always been priority for us but some years are harder then others. The hot, dry weather this year has been a challenge in the river and the garden. Not to worry though we wont starve!!!
