Young Hummer

There were almost no birds in Madera Canyon this afternoon. Of course, I went during the peak of the day which doesn't bode well for seeing anything interesting.  It seemed that when something did come by, there was too much backlight. I gave up trying to snag a hummingbird in flight. Based on the ragged colors, this is an immature male broad-billed hummingbird. I was lucky to catch some motion, even if it was a weird view of the figure eight being made by its wings. Try large for more detail.

My mum told me, when I visit grandma in hospital, I should take her flowers.
So, when grandma wasn't looking, I took them.
