Pleach

This very pretty flower with small pink and white trumpet heads was found on the edge of a road among weeds. It is Field bindweed (Convolvulus arvensis) and tends to be a low growing plant  unless it can find grass stems or something to cling onto.   Before the flowers open in sunshine the petals are folded up. Unfortunately it was very cloudy but the flowers look very attractive on grassy verges when they open in the sun. It would be unsuitable in a garden as it would soon spread and smother other plants and even a tiny root can quickly grow.
