Sullivan Creek

Some days work is work but in the stream sciences field, work in the summer wearing shorts and teva's is pretty special. Today was such a day on Sullivan Creek in eastern Washington.

Following the FERC license renewal from Seattle City Light's Sullivan and Pend Orielle projects a lot of restoration work is going to be implemented to mitigate for impacts from dam operations. For this project we are helping SCL locate, design, and construct 2 ELJs in lower Sullivan Creek as a pilot project of sorts.

This photo is of a timber log revetment built in the lower reach to reduce erosion along an eroding bank. While current practice haas advanced quite a bit from this type of structure it is creating the best pool in the lower river.
