Unexpected

It wasn't until I got home and was looking at my photos that I realized this is not a Piping Plover. It is a Semipalmated Plover, which is not the endangered plover here on the Cape that has resulted in closed beaches during nesting season. I watched for quite a while as it wrestled with a very  large worm. I didn't find the worm pleasant to look at (to say the least) so I chose a photo with the majority curled up in the sand. Ick.
