Stuff and Nonsense

Bridge of Sighs (Hertford Bridge), Oxford

So pleased that last nights heavy wind and rain had disappeared by the morning and the lovely sunshine was back. After a leisurely breakfast we went for another little wander and ended up in the Turf Tavern, which is apparently one of the hardest pubs to find in Oxford. It also boasts that in 1963, Bob Hawke, who later became Prime Minister of Australia, got the world record for downing a yard of ale in 11 seconds…..

My blip today is not far from the Turf Tavern, and is called Hertford Bridge, or more popularly, the Bridge of Sighs, due to its resemblance to the bridge of the same name in Venice.

We left for home just after 3pm and it took us over 5 hours - the journey wasn’t much fun - just really slow with tons of traffic.
