Lifeboat

The former lifeboat station in Stromness has several boards detailing the work of the boats and crews from the past. This is the oldest. An important reminder of life saving work.

The Pentland Firth was a wee bit bumpy yesterday. I closed my eyes for half an hour and felt fine. Our B&B host met us off the ferry and took us up the brae. We were grateful for the lift. We've got our bearings now though.

Ate well at the Ferry Inn last night and I thought I'd sleep like a log. But no.

Breakfast was an 'Orkney Platter' of amazing fish, cheese and other delicacies. What we couldn't eat was taken to the fridge in the bedroom for tonight. Great service.

Walked out by Warbeth, went to the Pier Art Centre (gorgeous exhibition) and have just demolished a crab roll from Julia's.

This afternoon I'm popping along to see Lady Findhorn, currently residing in Stromness for the season. Looking forward to that. Then back up the brae to feast on the remains of breakfast before an early night.

It's so good to be back in Hamnavoe.
