Beaches

Our cottage, Ardnish, is equidistant between two areas of pleasant beaches, both of which we visited today. The weather forecast today was for cloud and rain, but this morning we headed out to Dorlin beach, where there's a ruined castle. In the event, the weather was glorious and Orla and I went paddling in the sea. We didn't have any of our beach stuff with us though, so we stopped off back at the cottage quickly and then headed west to Ardtoe. By the time we got there the sun had disappeared, but it was still warm and dry and we had the whole beach to ourselves for most of the day. We had so much fun. Fishing in rock pools, digging holes in the sand, Orla got her dad to bury her and then they both made "sand angels". I was having a look at the rocks and Orla wanted to know what I was doing. I told her that rocks tell a story. She said "but there's no words". I told her we didn't need words. She asked me to tell her the story of the rocks, so I did. We whiled away a very pleasant afternoon. When we got back we visited the Blue Parrot cafe in the village. It did start to rain late afternoon and is still raining now. Hopefully it will be done by tomorrow.
