Making a mark

My 1950s new town has grown to fourteen different neighbourhoods over the years.
Like most towns I expect, there are some less desirable areas. This mosaic is in the one which is definitely at the bottom of the pile.
However, despite the regular reports of muggiings, occasional stabbings and general air of seediness,  many people declare they’ve lived there for many years and wouldn’t live anywhere else because of the wonderful community spirit.
This mosaic was made by residents to reflect that spirit, and must have looked wonderful when it was new. Sadly, it’s looking a bit moth-eaten now,
