Ancient, trusty , drouthy...and wet...
The wet theme continues.
I had to drive down to Ayrshire today for a meeting, and I had lunch at the excellent Souter's Inn in Kirkoswald.
The village was the home of the real "Souter Johnnie" of Tam O'Shanter fame * and although I have been there before I had intended to walk through the Kirkyard before I left, not least in order to get a blip.
But it was raining when I left home at 7.50, it rained all the way down ( getting me soaked when I stopped for a coffee in Largs) , was raining when I got to the Souter's Inn and was raining even harder when I left.
So this is a glimpse through my windscreen of what might have been.
However by the time I got back to Gourock for the ferry the rain had almost stopped, and the mist had cleared enough to see what is in my extra photo - a submarine being escorted back from patrol to Faslane.
Not a sight that settles the mind or soul.
"His ancient, trusty, drouthy crony;
Tam lo'ed him like a vera brither;
They had been fou for weeks thegither. "
