Cooling Off

The clothesline this afternoon had dragonflies all along it, mostly this colour, though one was red. Apparently, they do this handstand so less of them is exposed to the sun, to keep cooler. Maybe I should try that, felt too hot while out this afternoon, and will be hotter tomorrow, up to 40ish (104F). This fellow was definitely watching me, and chewing, it looked like.

Thanks to Dreich, now know this is a Trithemis kirbyi, or orange dropwing.

Gratefuls:
- visits to Netty, to return books she'd lent to our grandkids,  and to Göran and Margreth, who had kindly procured four more wine glasses for us, and were thrilled that the stray cat they adopted had had four kittens (on their bed, while they were asleep)
- time to read, reading The Bee Sting, by Paul Murray; rather dominated my day, and only half way through; can't say I love it yet, but it's gripping
- sunshine to run the air conditioner in the hottest part of the day
