Diary of an Edinburgher

Italian treat!

Phew! That was a HOT one! We were able to go down town without our cardis!

I took Archie for a longer walk than usual in the morning, as we needed to go into town for a couple of things. One was popping in to the National Gallery to ask about JR’s membership card - she claimed it wasn’t in the membership bumph sent… a wee bit embarrassing, because it was there!

It looked most pleasant sitting under the orange umbrellas (Extra), looking out on the Gardens, which are quite brown these days. We didn’t hang around because there was an awful loud screeching woman with a microphone trying to set up her ‘show’ while keeping the few spectators nearby. She was probably a juggler. They come out of the woodwork at this time of year.

After a quick swapping of an item for a more suitable one, we decided to stay in town for brunch. And what a good decision that was! We went to Contini, a long established Italian restaurant that we haven’t been to for ages. The outside seating was mobbed, but we wanted inside. And what a treat that was!

A super menu, wonderful decor, fantastic low, slow jazz music - I could just hear the groovy double bass. A couple of tasty Italian entrees, and a small glass of Italian blush - perfect.

I then came home, and my bus was first to arrive at the bus stop, though from the timetable I thought I’d missed it. Brilliant!

I took Archie round the block, before collapsing on the sofa and slept till JR came home. 10,494 steps! No wonder I was stuffed!
