Just out of reach.
Isn't it always the case. The best berries are always just out of reach.
A fairly hot sunny day. 23C. Better than expected.
We drove to Woodlesford Lock and did a 5/6 mile walk along the Aire and Calder Navigation.
Interesting to see 4 boats going through a lock, all together. This canal is very wide. Built in 1704 to bring goods up to Leeds and Wakefield from Goole. Now used for leisure.
One of the reasons for our visit was to pick blackberries. Not quite as good as last year but still managed to pick 4lbs.
Some already in the freezer. The rest will be made into a lemon berry pudding and blackberry and apple pie.
More photos of our walk in a collage as an extra.
The flowers were beautiful all through Oulton and Woodlesford, and round the canal.
One bed had a sign saying ' The John.Sergeant Flower Bed. As seen on Barging Round Britain 2015'.
Back to dead heading and watering again this evening.
