A day of goodbyes

This morning Adam left on the 10.30am train to go to Zurich, and is now at home in Cambridge. Meriel left on the 11.30am train and is now home in London. It was sad saying goodbye to both of them, and it almost feels like our holiday is over. However Luke is still with us and we have another week here. When we arrived it was that familiar feeling you had as a child when you broke up from school for the summer holidays, the holidays seemed to stretch ahead and as you did not have a proper concept of time, the holiday seemed endless. As we were staying here for such an extended time it felt a bit like that, when we hardly knew what day of the week it was and certainly had no idea of the date. Now I am aware of the date and our wonderful holiday here drawing to an end...but we still have some treats in store before it does.

It was a lovely hot and sunny morning so after we saw them off at the station we went for a walk with Xena. We had a light lunch in the village and while we were having lunch the clouds came over and it rained, which was a bit of a relief after the heat we have had. The rain stopped and we were due to play golf later this afternoon, but as we were about to set off it started raining again. I decided not to play as I had things to do (laundry, change beds etc) and besides I am playing tomorrow morning. Gavin and Luke were lucky as it stopped raining as they teed off and they enjoyed their golf. It was a lovely sunny early evening and after golf Luke and I took Xena for a walk while Gavin worked.

Now I must go make supper, roast chicken in the air fryer takes no time at all and is a quick and easy supper.
